We will be having an IEEE Taco Sale on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Come stop by for a taco or stay and volunteer for member points. The sale will be from 9 – 2:30, but we need volunteers throughout the day starting at 8am to 3pm.

This year’s HESTEC was a big success. Many people participated in each day’s events and we had many volunteers help out the various organizations including IEEE and STIR. During the week, we had children come in and build with the 6-in-1 solar kits. Many of them were anxious to demonstrate their work and were crowding around the one light bulb we had in the room.

Friday, September 30th, volunteers stayed late into the night to prepare for Saturday’s community day fundraiser. Members of both IEEE and STIR were pre-assembling LED nametags and sorting out the colors to be sold. We greatly appreciate everyone’s hard work.

On Saturday, October 1st, community day began. This is when the campus is open to the public to participate in HESTEC and walk around and see what each organization is doing. There were many fundraisers, but IEEE and STIR stood out. We had a giant LED sign to show off our fundraiser. Because of this, and with the members showing off their own nametags, we were able to have a successful LED nametag sale. Throughout the evening, and into the night, you could see the glow of our hand-made nametags and those that were made for the community. Good job guys!

I must apologize to the members of IEEE, for I have not been updating the webpage as often as I should have. I was not able to post images of Bucky’s Block Party right away, but have updated the photo gallery along with images of HESTEC 2011. That event was also a success, as we had many students and some professors come by and show their support for our organization.

On Friday and Saturday, for the first ever Bronc Roudnup, IEEE members volunteered and participated in welcoming this year’s incoming students. There were motivational speakers giving words of engouragement, activities in the fieldhouse, free lunch, and in-depth presentations on different topics around the campus at the various colleges.

For engineering students, we held an introductory presentation to describe the focus of the organizations on campus, and what they have to offer students through membership.

Along with the small presentation, IEEE gave a more in depth view of what to expect as an incoming freshmen and an overview of some of the past projects that seniors have done.

There was a big turnout for the Friday’s events and our presentations had more students than there were chairs. We appreciate the interest and hope to see you all in our future presentations, meetings, and events.

On August 7th, painting of the picnic table resumed and was almost completed. I want to say thank you to Travis, who volunteered his time and artistic skill to help us complete the picnic table.

The design is a sketch of the “right-hand rule”, a mnemonic commonly used to visualize the direction of forces. The picnic table is not yet complete and will be finished sometime this week.

Yesterday, we began painting our picnic table at the art complex. We had our officers there and a few members that decided to help out with the work. Thanks guys!

Because it took us some time to get started, we could not finish the picnic table within the designated time and decided to do only the inital coat of paint. As of right now, a few of us are meeting on Friday, August 5th, to continue painting the picnic table.

Updates are currently being made to the website. New content and news will be coming soon about what is happening with the IEEE on campus. On Saturday, July 30th Monday, August 1st, we will be painting a reserved picnic table at the art complex between 5pm and 7pm to show off our school spirit and our dedication to our organization. Our weekly officer meetings are in ENGR 2.242 on Mondays at 6pm. The new officers are meeting almost every week this summer to prepare the activities for the upcoming Fall semester. Our focus is to include ourselves a lot more within the engineering community on campus by encouraging relations with other organizations and increasing our participation with students and their ideas. More information is soon to come.

We need tutors.

The IEEE is currently looking for tutors to help students with their studies. Because of the busy nature of the summer sessions, we currently do not have a tutoring schedule or dedicated individuals to help with course work. If you are willing to help your peers with any class material, or if you have any questions or comments regarding the organization, contact us via email and we will promptly get back to you.
